How It’s Done

I frequently speak with people at events who are interested in entering the Arab Gulf markets but struggle to understand how to do so. I can offer them an abbreviated five-minute spiel, but this generic monologue hardly scratches the surface of an actual How-To for the specific needs of their company.

I decided to share a few Mini-Case Studies over the next few weeks to help explain the process.

A report we recently completed was for a US concentrated solar power technology developer whose funding from the US Department of Energy was recently suspended. Following the announcement by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during President Trump's visit of a $14 billion investment in renewable energy, the company speculated that there might be an opportunity there.

After a 30-minute Discovery Call and an agreed-upon Scope of Work, we compiled a comprehensive report: a Market Evaluation and Opportunity Assessment.

The result was a report that included useable information for the client’s consideration including:

  • Saudi Arabia's renewable energy goals, outlined in its Vision 2030 economic plan, and the progress made to date.

  • Explanation of the multitiered government, university, and private sector renewable energy ecosystem.

  • Details of the ongoing and in-the-pipeline projects, investments, and collaborations.

  • Which players in the ecosystem are open to research and development collaboration, as well as commercialization.

  • Potential funding sources for their specific solar energy development technology.

  • How to qualify for grants and register on the Saudi Government Projects Portal.

  • Recommendations and Next Steps.

The next steps could include a qualified contacts list in each of the pertinent offices, virtual introductions, virtual or in-market appointment setting, and ongoing business development support – whatever it takes to guide our customers until they are ready to move forward on their own.

We don’t buy research. We don’t recycle reports. Everything we do is custom, current, and tailored to our specific clients' goals.
